Ashlee Madhukar, winner at New York’s Apollo Theater Amateur Talent Contest in 2009, has just released a fresh new spin of Jordan Spark’s “One Step at a Time.” This Florida-born teen talent is not only a singer, but also a writer, violinist, and actor. Don’t be surprised if you catch her in a feature film. The song was produced by RajStar and mixed by Stuart White. It’s a fresh spin on Jordan’s hit single, complete with a brand new bridge.

Once upon a time, I auditioned for one of NYU’s music programs after I graduated high school. They said my SAT’s were great, my audition was great, but I was denied admission due to my poor performance in 9th grade (WHAT???!??). Anyways, that was all a blessing in disguise.

DJ Rekha invited me to speak in her class at NYU today, called Bhangra, Bollywood, and Beyond. I spoke about my experiences in India last year as I spent six months there, before my visa expired and the motherland kicked me out. I had a great time, the students had great energy, and we all got to Jai Hov it up.
